Ardingly College offers significant music scholarships designed for students showcasing exceptional talent and potential. These scholarships, also referred to as music exhibitions, provide students the opportunity to receive instrumental or vocal tuition without any charges.
Expectations of Music Scholars
11+
Award recipients are expected to actively engage in the school's musical life, participating in ensembles and singing in the Chapel Choir. They are role models for musicianship standards and demonstrate commitment to school music, attending key events and Open Mornings. Music study at GCSE level is an expectation.
13+
Music Scholars play a leading role in the College's musical activities, setting standards in musicianship and contributing to performances, including grade examinations. Active participation in broader music-making, such as Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Choir, is encouraged. Singers may also join the Chamber Choir. GCSE-level music study is a condition of the award.
16+
Scholars at this level are expected to make an active, high-quality contribution to the school's musical landscape. Regular meetings with the Director of Music support their ongoing development and ensure that expectations are consistently met.
