Ardingly College Life Skills Week

MONDAY

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze

Bronze DofE Shell students will be completing their Qualifying Expedition in The South Downs, near Worthing, during Life Skills Week. They will depart school on Monday morning by coach and be dropped off at their starting points where they will begin to navigate their way to the campsite, hiking 14-18km depending on the route they have planned. The students will be navigating in their groups, meeting their assessors at designated checkpoints throughout the day. Students will be completely self-sufficient, carrying everything they need in their rucksacks and without the use of any technology. Students will cook their dinner on Trangia stoves and camp in tents overnight. In the morning, after cooking a hot meal for breakfast, students will depart the campsite and again navigate their way through their 14-18km hiking route to the finish point. They will get the coach back to school on Tuesday afternoon, nursing their blisters and look forward to a well-earned night in their own beds again.
