Ardingly College Life Skills Week

MONDAY

One Day Job Challenge

Introducing the “One Day Job Challenge” as part of Life Skills Week. The LVI will engage in a job application simulation exercise. Prior to the challenge, they will receive preparation sessions on “What employers are looking for” and interview skills.

Students will apply for one of three fictional jobs by submitting an application form, CV, and cover letter. Throughout the day, professionals will conduct one-on-one interviews, observe practical and team-building tasks, and assess mini presentations—methods commonly used by companies in recruitment processes. Interviewers will provide individual feedback to students on their performance.

Scores will be tallied, and top performers will be “offered” each of the three jobs. The “One Day Job Challenge” provides invaluable hands-on experience, feedback, and insights into the expectations of employers, empowering students for their future careers.

Students will be divided into two groups. One group will do watersports on the Reservoir while the other group will be divided into smaller groups to take part in a photo Scavenger Hunt competition and quiz around school.

Future Options Q&A

We will be joined by some recent graduates who will tell us about their uni experiences – come armed with your questions as they reflect on the decisions they made in terms of university options and future career choices.

Uni Speed Dating!

You will be divided into 3 groups to come to Godwin Hall to meet some of last year’s UVI who have come back so share information about their universities and courses. This is your chance to ask all of those questions you want to ask but won’t find out about at an open day – how much is a pint of beer? Where is the best local nightlife? What is your chance of being allocated that amazing accommodation that you’ve toured.

Tuesday Evening Hawaiian Themed Disco

Hawaiian themed disco in the Under, with awards ceremony and beach games.
