Welcome From the Head of Sixth Form

Welcome to the Sixth Form at Ardingly College! As the Head of Sixth Form, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the exceptional opportunities available at Ardingly for the critical last two years of your secondary education.

Choice of Course:

At Ardingly we understand that every student is unique, and we offer a diverse range of courses to cater to individual interests and aspirations. Whether you choose A Levels, BTECs or the International Baccalaureate (IB), our dedicated teachers will guide you in your academic journey, providing the knowledge and skills you need to excel in your chosen field.

Pastoral Support and Achieving Potential:

Your wellbeing and success are our top priorities. Our tiered tutor system, led by experienced tutors and House Masters/Mistresses, creates a supportive environment where you can seek guidance, discuss any concerns, and receive personalised advice. We are here to ensure that you feel supported and motivated to achieve your full potential academically and personally.

Independence and Friendships:

Our final year (UVI) students have the unique opportunity to move into Godwin Hall, our university-style campus hall. This shared space fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and unity among all students and requires students to take more individual responsibility, in preparation for life after Ardingly.

Navigating Your Future:

Planning for the future can be exciting but sometimes overwhelming; our Futures Programme is in place to guide you through this important but challenging journey, including equipping you with the skills you will need for the changing world of work, beyond Ardingly.

We also use a powerful online platform to enable you to explore a wide range of university and career options, providing you with valuable resources and tools to make informed decisions about your future pathways. Our dedicated careers and UCAS advisors offer one-to-one support, helping you craft compelling personal statements and providing tailored guidance for university, apprenticeship, and other career applications, including specialised assistance for those aspiring to study at Oxford or Cambridge. We also have an Overseas University Coordinator who can assist you in exploring opportunities abroad.

Leadership and Personal Growth:

The Sixth Form at Ardingly College offers a wealth of leadership opportunities that provide valuable experiences to enhance your personal development while also strongly supporting university and job applications. There are also countless opportunities to engage in projects and other activities such as the Solar Car project, School Newspaper, Law Society and Model United Nations. We also offer students a wide variety of extracurricular trips, workshops, lectures, and seminars, allowing students to broaden their horizons, explore new interests and develop a well-rounded perspective.

Through our academic extension programme and lecture series we empower our students to push their intellectual boundaries, pursue their passions and develop the skills and knowledge required for success in higher education and beyond. We also focus on fostering the core entrepreneurial, employability and life skills that our students will need to thrive in the modern workplace.
