Assessment Process

At 11+, all applicants will be automatically considered for an Academic Scholarship through our main entrance assessment process. No separate Academic Scholarship application or assessment is required.

All candidates must sit the College’s entrance assessments, which includes an interview with a member of the Senior Academic Team. During the interview, we look for pupils who can think deeply, communicate with curiosity, and demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Potential Academic Scholars will be encouraged to identify and discuss their intellectual interests - whether these lie within the subjects they have studied at school or in areas they have explored independently.

Academic Scholarships will be awarded to pupils who show exceptional academic promise, strong reasoning skills and a readiness to engage confidently and thoughtfully with new ideas.

Expectation of Academic Scholars

Academic Scholars are expected to maintain high standards of excellence in their contribution to their academic study, have a consistently purposeful approach to school life, and sustain a strong work ethic.

Every scholarship holder is expected to set an example for other students in their conduct and approach to academic study. Scholarship holders are required to participate in the fuller life of the Senior School through its programme of extra-curricular activities, attend academic lectures and participate in annual academic competitions. Scholarship holders are also required to promote the school as requested at all Open Mornings.
