Welcome to Music at Ardingly
Ardingly College's Music Department is a thriving hub with 31 music teachers conducting almost 500 music lessons weekly. The department offers a comprehensive array of musical opportunities for students of all abilities. Inclusive activities such as House Music, Prep and Senior School Choirs provide avenues for all students to engage with music, regardless of their prior experience. For students demonstrating musical talent, there are numerous opportunities in specialist ensembles and choirs, providing enriching experiences and challenges for those excelling in their musical pursuits. Under the leadership of Tim Carpenter, the dynamic Music Department is dedicated to upholding its tradition of musical excellence, offering musicians opportunities to collaborate with professional musicians and perform in iconic venues. The school's holistic approach to music education introduces it in the 'Early Years' and continues through to Shell, with further study options available at GCSE, A Level, and IB levels.

Ardingly College is privileged to have a dedicated visiting music staff consisting of 25 accomplished teachers. Our staff offers instrumental tuition on all orchestral instruments, complemented by a selection of traditional options, such as piano, organ, guitar, drums, and voice. This extensive range allows students to explore and develop their musical talents across a diverse spectrum.

Each year, a cohort of students continues their musical journey by pursuing higher education in Music at the university level.
Music Facility at Ardingly College
The Music Department is based in the purpose-built Music School which includes the Recital Room, music classroom, music library, MAC Suite, Recording Room, Band Room recording studio and 11 practice teaching rooms.
A multi-purposed studio facility equipped with recording equipment and compositional software has been integrated into the building. This addition has opened up exciting opportunities for our students and ensembles to engage in industry-level recording sessions, fostering a creative and professional musical environment at Ardingly College.
Diverse Musical Ensembles at Ardingly College
Complementing the department's instruction is an extensive range of ensemble activities, accessible to students of all ages. These activities span from chamber music to large scale ensembles and choirs. All groups contribute to a music calendar comprising of approximately 50 to 60 events annually, including both novice performers and experienced music scholars.
